Chicago Illinois Audition

Talent Type: Casting call for a male actor in the area of Chicago free November 21-27. We won’t be filming through all those days, mainly Sunday-Tuesday, they are just left open in case a shot is needed. I will only accept actors in the immediate Chicago area.

He visits different temples, different monasteries; he searches among modern art and in the midst of the masses. He begins reflecting upon the world–nature, people, hurriedness, etc. We see the hurriedness of society. The impatience of people’s lives. Cars flying by. People passing and going. All the while Aden thinks and thinks…

His inner contemplation and growing calmness is reflected by shots of stillnessflowing autumn leaves, grasses, and waterthat contrast the shots of hurriedness in the streets of the city. But overtime, Aden understands that it does not matter where he travels to; it does not matter if he is in a Zen garden, in a Tibetan temple, or a Hindi temple. It does not matter if he is sitting alone or standing in the middle of the bustling streets of Chicago, peace is not there unless it is within him.

Again, to visualize what goes on here, we’ll move from a spectrum of different shots to centralize on key objects. We’ll move from vast, wide shots to narrow, concentrated shots of detailed images (see shot list below). As Aden becomes enlightened, we focus in on his face more and more, growing less weary and more blissful. We tie his face to various statues or images of Buddha, creating visual connections between Aden and Buddha. As he grows, the world too grows into a beautiful, blue skied paradise.

The streets, too, calm to a beautiful spectacle of harmonious interactions. The turning point for Aden is learning that he can be within peace even when in the most chaotic setting. Visually interpreted, we’ll use overcranked footage of him in Chicago, happy instead of weary, saturated instead of grayed, slowed instead of hurried. To sum it all up, the narrative moves visually from wide to narrow shots, focusing on chaos to peace within individual objects, and from grayed to more saturated color schemes.
