I can’t buy an old town so I will build one” Jay Gammons – Gammons Gulch, Benson, Arizona Re-creation of an 1890′s Town and Mining Camp Film, Photography and Event Location. Gammons Gulch is a Movie Set & Museum created as an Old West Town from the 1880′s to the 1930′s.

Gammons Gulch began the day Jay was exploring the desert in Benson, Arizona. Traveling down an old dirt road, he came across a for sale sign that read 10 acres available. The property had hills with a Gulch area next to a dry wash and Jay decided then and there that was a perfect spot for his lifelong dream of owning an Old West Mining Town and offering it as a production location.

From that day forward Gammons Gulch was transferred from a dream to a reality as Jay Gammons lovingly began to build board by board this location using buildings he gathered from the Old West era from all over the country.

James Caan, Scott Caan, Robert Duvall, and Mark Rydell have signed on as advisers to www.OpenFilm.com, which provides Internet distribution, awards cash prizes to filmmakers, and helps submit projects to festivals. Filmmakers can upload shorts to the site to obtain feedback from viewers. Filmmakers can also sell downloadable versions of their works through the site (OpenFilm takes 69 cents per sale). It has a deal with TiVo, which syndicates 3-4 films each week from the site.

OpenFilm also plans to award One Million Dollars in grants over the next 20 months. Four filmmakers will receive $50,000 in cash and $200,000 in financing. Any film uploaded to the site is eligible for the award. The six films that receive the most votes from the community will be viewed by the advisory board, which will select the winner. Each month, both Caans, Duvall and Rydell will host live web-cam chats with the site’s users. For more information visit www.openfilm.com.
