How to Make A Killer (Acting or Modeling) Resume

Have you ever dreamed of getting into the acting or modeling career but did not know where to start? Your first step should be to put together a brief and professional resume. Providing a resume is essential to getting noticed by talent agencies and directors in the industry, because it displays all of the relevant factors and characteristics that make you stand out from the rest. Even if you are brand new to the industry, do not feel disheartened. There are quite a few things you may have done in the past that would be appropriate for your acting or modeling resume.

For a strong resume, you want to include:Modeling zed cards

• Your name: this can be your real name or your professional stage name
• Personal information such as your age, height without shoes, weight, eye color, and hair color
• Contact information such as your telephone number, email address, and mailing address
• Get an amazing headshot done professionally and attach it to your resume
• This is vital because the talent agencies and directors refer back to the headshots when browsing potential fits for a role
• Experience in the industry, if any
• For acting, list any experience in television, movies, commercials, or theater: provide the role you played, the name of the production, and the name of the production company
• For runway modeling, list the name of the store, brand or event, along with the date and location
• For print modeling, list the name of the store or brand you modeled for, along with the name of the production or photographer
• Categorize your experiences: put the most significant roles/events first, and the least significant ones last
• Include professional training/classes such as:
• Cold Reading/Auditioning
• Scene Study
• Drama classes
• Improvisation
• Singing/dancing lessons
• Commercials
• Dialect
• Modeling training
• Activities, hobbies, skills, and interests that reflect your personality and make you unique, which could benefit you in the industry, such as:Actor business cards
• Languages Spoken
• Singing/Dancing
• The ability to gain/lose weight quickly
• Athletics/sports such as football, basketball, boxing, gymnastics, acrobatics, etc.
• Do not lie about anything you put on your resume: that can lead to serious consequences, such as a bad reputation
• Keep your resume brief, professional, and informative
• One page if possible, do not exceed two pages
• Use a tidy and simple design
• Only use legible fonts: Times New Roman and Helvetica are good examples

In order to flourish in the acting/modeling industry, you truly want to make the best first impression possible by presenting a quality resume when you attend talent agencies and auditions. Casting Calls Member Profile Setup Tips

Seeking Casting Calls and Auditions?

We offer a number of ways to get involved in the film and television industry.
Modeling, acting, extras, entertainers human or not.

How it works:

1- Post your information and photos online by creating your profile on the web site. Your profiles will then be available to casting personnel who are seeking talent for their projects on the internet. If you are a fit for their project, they will send out an inquiry which will go directly to our casting department for review. Then email will then be sent directly to you
in order to contact the production person for more details. We do NOT negotiate with casting personnel as your representative, it is the responsibility of you the  member to engage the casting person.

2- We have two web sites, and on EFM we maintain a forum where casing personnel will post casting calls and open auditions when seeking a number of talent or crew needs. Many times, there are numerous roles available and casting agents will post in the forums asking for submissions or holding open calls and auditions. To view the calls, log on to the forums and select the state you are located in for any recent notices. Casting calls and auditions are posted as they come in so be sure to check the forums on a constant basis. You never know what notices will get posted or when.

3- Facebook and other social media. We maintain a Facebook, Twitter, Google plus and other social pages. Be sure to friend us and watch for casting call notices. We do not post everything on our social pages, so if you want to keep updated, be sure to check the forums as well

Creating Your Profile:

Lastly a few tips on creating a talent, modeling or work as an extra profile. Be sure to add clear photos with simple backgrounds as your photos for your online profile. You do NOT have to have professional photos but they must be clear and uncluttered. Our profiles are offered to those seeking to be an extra in the movies, actors seeking roles in films, models and entertainers.

The casting personnel are only interested in what you currently look like. Additionally be sure to include any experience and talents you may have on your profile page. Perhaps casting personnel are seeking talent that can perform specific skills for their project. So when creating a profile, include as much information as you can and be professional. Looking for work in
the entertainment industry is the same as going for a job. You are creating a first impression with your online profile so do the best you can when setting up a profile that will get results.

NOTE: In your profile, you are able to upload your resume in WORD document only, and if you put your resume online be sure to understand that any contact information can be seen by the general public as well as the allowing casting personnel to contact you directly. So be careful what information is included in your resume. Should you need assistance or have additional questions, you can email us at auditions@extrasformovies.com or call our hotline 9:00am to 5:00pm PST.

Good Luck

How to be an extra in a movie

How to Become an Extra in a MovieMake money as an extra in the movies and filming industry

It is not that difficult to get work as an extra in movies, however you need to do your homework and understand the process as well as how to prepare and market yourself.

How to get work as an extra.

TIP: When applying for work as an extra, if at ANY time you are asked to pay something, whether it be for the privilege of getting into a movie or to pay for photos, then this is NOT a genuine casting opportunity. It is most likely a method of some sort to take your money. DO NOT under any circumstance pay anything to work as an extra, actor or model. NO EXCEPTIONS

Extra Work:

Where you live depends on the extra work available. If you live in a state where they shoot films or television commercials then you are able to try out for projects.  There are a number of projects that will cast nationwide, generally for larger roles, but in most situations, you will have to pay your travel expenses to get to where the shoot will take place.

The main thing to do is connect with as many sources available that have access to the production companies seeking extras.

For example on handmealine.com many talent scouts and casting personnel view photos of those looking for acting, modeling and extra work opportunities, so if you have your photos and information online and a scout sees you as a potential background extra or actor, the will contact you via the information you have  posted on the web site.

How to get into movies as an extra

Once you receive an inquiry, you simply follow the instructions in the email inquiry to submit for the project. The casting person may request you show up for a casting call or audition, ask for more photos or begin to discuss the requirements of the project.

We also maintain a free forum where casting personal holding auditions will regularly post audition notices. Join the forum and check to see what comes up in your area. If you are on social networking sites but sure to friend us so you can see some of the casting notices we post there.

You need to be interactive and learn as much as you can about

where the need is for extras. Creating a profile, using our forums, staying in touch on facebook, twitter and other social networking sites is just the beginning to look for work as an extra.

TIP: You need to fit the look a production needs for what is being shot. Example: if they are shooting a baseball game or street scene then many types are needed, but if they are shooting a scene at a high school for instance, then teachers and students will be required or if they are shooting an scene in an office, then business people would fit the bill.

PHOTOS

ONLINE DISPLAY:

If you are going to create a profile, your photos do not have to be professional but they must be done correctly. Acquire a good camera, get together with someone who will take your photos and plan out what you will wear and what backgrounds you will use.

You can go to a park, or pose against a blank wall, maybe you can locate other backgrounds that will fit with the type of photos you want. Say you want to shoot for a business look, an office chair and desk would suffice as subtle background elements, or maybe you want to do a homeless type shot, the alley around the corner could do the trick.

Actor headshot comp cards

Subtle props can play a big role in creating a character shot. If you want to look like a doctor, a simple white jacket and stethoscope would give you that look, or if you want to portray a secretary type, a clip board, telephone or computer on a desk will set the tone.   Just be advised that before you take your photos, create a plan of the type of shots you want to get, then go have fun. You can also do the shoot one different days to get more varied shots.

Once your photos are selected, you can then upload to the web site and create a profile for talent scouts to see.

Actors and models, extras headshot

CREATE SOMETHING WITH YOUR PHOTO TO TAKE TO AUDITIONS AND OPEN CALLS

We recommend for extras to bring at least on photo, many times when extras are needed they simply show up at the open call or perhaps on set the day of the shoot dressed according

TIP: If they are shooting a party scene from the fifties, you will need to come dressed in that era if wardrobe is not supplied. If they are seeking extras for a beach scene, then you will come dressed as if you are going to the beach. The casting personnel will tell you what they need.

If you are attending to an open casting call, many production companies will have a camera at the audition location to take your photo in order to attach to an application you may have filled out. If you are serious and prepared as well as want to look professional, you could attach a comp card or maybe a headshot business card to your application that shows what type of characters you can play.

The materials above are not expensive and the photos you use do not have to be professional, however the photos must be clear, crisp and free from background clutter such as your living room bath room and so forth. To get good photos to use, acquire a decent camera and pose in front of subtle backgrounds. Backgrounds that do not take away from the main objective, which is to show casting what you look like.

TIP: Be SURE your photos are not blurry. Look at samples of comp cards used by actors, get a feel for how they are shot. Change your clothing and try out a few character shots. Example if you are a teen perhaps you try to look tough or you are a football player maybe a cheerleader, student or other character types you can fit.If you are an adult, you can shoot as the all American father, business man or women, homeless person or a plethora of character types you see in television and films.

Once you have your photos, select a couple of the best shots. Your main photo should be a close up basic head and shoulders headshot.Sample model or actor comp card

If you want to create an affordable business or comp card you can create affordable headshots from your computer. Get your pictures ready and log on to our online headshot comp card shop and select a template sample.

Once you locate a template, just upload your photos and type in your information. The comp cards and business cards we have prepared for you cost as little as .50 each and you can order one copy or hundreds. If you need photos for an upcoming audition, we have arranged one day shipping options.
